Healing in Isolation: When We Don’t Have a Village

What happens when there’s no one to lean on?

Healing is often painted as a group effort — community, connection, support.
But for some of us, healing begins in silence. Alone. After being shunned. After setting boundaries that cost us our families.

Some of us are doing the work without a safety net — no village, no consistent friend, no gentle hand to hold.
And still… we fight.

How can we learn to trust others… alone?
Many of us find ourselves isolated in our minds, surrounded by ghosts.

We learn to carry the weight.
We learn how to feel without falling apart.

Sometimes support starts with one person. A mentor. A stranger who listens. A familiar face at the gym. A group of folks gathered around folding chairs in a dingy church basement.

It’s okay to be tired of doing this alone.
It’s okay to say, “I want more than survival.”
We all deserve a community that honors our pain and holds space for our truth.

Healing in isolation is still healing.
But none of us were meant to stay in that place forever.
